About Byewaste

Byewaste is a free pick-up service for old items. The service was launched in Rotterdam with the support of CityLab010. The company collects old books, electronics, toys and textiles directly from citizen’s homes.

All items are then given a second life through their network of sustainable partners, such as the thrift stores of Het Goed, Boekenbalie and now also WEAR.

This way, users have to spend less time on decluttering - while being sure that their belongings end up in the right place.

About Wear

WEAR sells pre-loved sneakers, but also brings your old pair back to life. By giving sneakers a second life, we reduce the CO2-emissions of the sneaker industry as well as the amount of sneakers being thrown away.

WEAR's employees are people with untapped labour potential who get the chance to discover and develop their talents at WEAR. In the fast fashion era, we like to take a step in the right direction.

The Impact

We throw away about 100 million kilos of textiles every year. This poses a big threat to the environment. All these garments, accessories and shoes are incinerated or end up in landfills, resulting in a high degree of pollution and CO2-emissions.

When you have your old sneakers picked up by Byewaste, you therefore contribute to a more sustainable production chain. You can thus see it as a gift for someone else and the planet!
